In the aftermath of the alleged attempted terrorist attack at Fort Dix a Muslim group in South Jersey is holding an emergency town meeting on Friday night.
Mrs. Naseem Badat, spokeswoman for the Islamic Center of South Jersey, says it's important that those invited to the town meeting -- elected officials, law enforcement, local organizations, and especially the center's neighbors -- understand that those arrested in the Fort Dix terrorism plot do not represent most Muslims in the United States:
"We want people to know that we are Muslims, but we are also Americans. We are American Muslims who are very part of this society and we would like people to know that."
Badat says the organizers hope the meeting will answer questions and promote dialogue about American Islam.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Islamic Center, on Garfield Avenue in Palmyra, NJ.
